An upcoming extension of the William Halton Parkway, aimed at addressing traffic demands and providing travel options, will restrict vehicle access at Fourth Line south of Burnhamthorpe Road West in Oakville.

The extension, spanning from Sixth Line to Neyagawa Boulevard, will introduce a new east-west corridor from Bronte Road to Ninth Line in Ward 7 of Oakville. This project includes the addition of multi-use pathways and bike lanes.

As part of this extension, a temporary road closure is scheduled from May 1-17, 2024, at Fourth Line south of Burnhamthorpe Road West.

"This temporary closure is required to construct the south leg of the new roundabout at Fourth Line and Burnhamthorpe Road West," said Halton Region in a notice sent via email.

The closure is expected to last until 7 p.m. on May 17, 2024.

During this period, there will be no through access to Fourth Line from Burnhamthorpe Road West. However, local and school access will be maintained between the entrance to King’s Christian Collegiate and Settlers Road West.

Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour route along Settlers Road West, Neyagawa Boulevard, and Burnhamthorpe Road West.

Emergency vehicle access will be upheld throughout the closure.

Halton Region says services such as waste collection and mail delivery will continue without disruption.

"We will make every effort to complete the construction work as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of the closure," said Halton Region in the notice.
